Morocco

Morocco used to be a destination for intrepid travellers seeking the exotic bazaars of Marrakesh and Fes. But that all changed when the secret of North Africa’s’s incredible surf got out.

Solomon Islands

Indonesia

The mention of Indo sparks excitement in most surfers. Encompassing more than 18,000 islands, this sprawling Indonesian archipelago offers unmatched quantity and quality of waves.

South Africa

South Africa is a paradise for surfers, wildlife enthusiasts and cultural explorers alike.

With over 3,000 kilometres of coastline, its diverse beaches and bays offer consistent waves year-round. From the legendary right-hand point break at Jeffreys Bay to the beginner-friendly beach breaks of Durban.

Taiwan

El Salvador

Though still establishing itself as a surf destination in the wake of a civil war, El Salvador’s selection of cobblestone points and balmy water temperatures provide ample reason to visit.

Punta Roca and Punta Mango have already gained fame as world-class breaks. Meanwhile, La Libertad serves up numerous quality spots for the wave-hungry.

Mozambique

Mozambique is Africa’s next great surfing frontier. This southeast African nation boasts 2,500 kilometres of Indian Ocean coastline that attracts quality swells from April to September.

Much of the country remains uncharted territory on the surf map, with lineups galore awaiting discovery.

The heart of Mozambique’s growing surf culture beats in Tofo, a lively beach town and gateway to the Inhambane province.

The Philippines

Craving epic surf in Asia? Then set your sights on the Philippines. This island-dotted country boasts countless waves, but none more famous than Siargao.

Once a sleepy secret, this tropical gem now draws travellers from around the globe, including surfers jostling for a spot in the lineup of legendary “Cloud 9”.

While “Cloud 9” once hosted pro surf competitions, today it caters more to enthusiastic amateurs. Tourism has undoubtedly changed Siargao, bringing bigger crowds and higher prices – think Bali thirty years ago.

But spectacular surfing remains for those willing to seek it out. And with direct flights from Manila, it’s easier to get to than ever before. 

The best waves hit between July and December. Aside from Cloud 9, both Daku Reef and Stimpys offer thrills for intermediate to advanced surfers.

Ecuador

Sri Lanka

With its palm-fringed beaches and warm waters, this teardrop-shaped island in the Indian Ocean boasts nearly 1,600 kilometres of surfable coastline.
